Future Landscapes

Creating ecological memorial landscapes for future generations

Eternal Grove is developing a future network of ecological memorial landscapes across the UK.

Each landscape is designed to combine:

  • memorial woodland

  • wildflower meadow restoration

  • habitat creation

  • long-term ecological stewardship

  • peaceful places of remembrance

Our goal is to transform carefully selected land into protected natural environments where remembrance and restoration exist together.

What makes an Eternal Grove landscape

Every landscape is carefully planned to feel peaceful, natural and timeless.

Typical features include:

  • memorial woodland groves

  • wildflower meadows

  • native tree planting

  • reflection ponds and wetlands

  • protected walking paths

  • biodiversity habitat zones

  • low-impact visitor areas

The landscape itself becomes the memorial.

Suitable future locations

Eternal Grove landscapes are best suited to:

  • quiet rural settings

  • land close to towns and communities

  • farmland suitable for ecological restoration

  • gently contoured landscapes

  • sites with potential for woodland, meadow and habitat creation

Most flagship landscapes are expected to range between 15 and 30 acres.

Restoration and stewardship

Each landscape is designed for long-term ecological stewardship.

This may include:

  • woodland creation

  • meadow restoration

  • wetland and habitat enhancement

  • biodiversity corridors

  • protected natural habitats

  • low-impact visitor access

Our aim is to create landscapes that continue to mature and improve over generations.

Landscape principles

To preserve the natural environment, Eternal Grove landscapes follow a number of core principles.

  • Ashes placement only

  • Biodegradable urns only

  • No headstones or grave surrounds

  • No artificial memorials or plastic ornaments

  • Protected natural habitats throughout the landscape

  • Carefully managed walking paths and visitor areas

These principles help ensure every landscape remains peaceful, natural and environmentally sensitive.

A future national network

Eternal Grove is building toward a future network of ecological memorial landscapes across the UK.

Over time, each landscape will form part of a wider long-term vision:
Peaceful places of remembrance connected by woodland creation, restoration and nature.

Discuss a future landscape opportunity
